Minimum Vehicle Requirements and Maintenance Policy for Eon Platform Owners
To ensure a safe, seamless, and consistent experience for all users, Eon has established the following requirements and maintenance policies for vehicles listed on our platform. These policies are designed to protect owners, guests, and the integrity of the platform.
Vehicle Basics
- Vehicles must be located in the United States and registered to the listing owner or an authorized representative.
- All vehicles must comply with state-specific legal requirements, including registration and safety inspections, and have permanent or temporary license plates. Dealer or trader plates are not allowed.
Vehicle Types
Eligible Vehicles:
- Passenger vehicles, including sedans, SUVs, and electric vehicles (EVs).
Ineligible Vehicles:
- Limousines, motorcycles, RVs, three-wheeled vehicles, off-road vehicles, vehicles requiring a commercial license, or those seating more than 10 people, including the driver.
Vehicle Condition
- Age and Mileage:
- Vehicles must be no older than 12 years and have less than 150,000 miles at the time of listing.
- Once listed, vehicles exceeding 150,000 miles must remain in excellent condition and comply with all maintenance and safety standards.
- Title Status:
- Vehicles must have a clean title (no "branded" or "salvage" titles).
- Owners are responsible for verifying their vehicle's title history (services like Carfax can assist).
- Odometer:
- The vehicle's odometer must function properly. Vehicles with tampered or non-functional odometers are prohibited.
- Condition and Functionality:
- Vehicles must be in good working condition with no unresolved mechanical or safety issues.
- All lights, turn signals, brakes, and essential safety systems must be operational.
- Insurance and Value:
- Vehicles must have an active personal auto insurance policy covering the registered owner.
- Vehicles with a fair market value exceeding $200,000 are not permitted on the platform.
- Owners must confirm with their insurance provider that participation in car sharing will not void or conflict with their policy.
- New York Vehicles:
- Vehicles registered in New York must have a valid inspection sticker that extends at least through the next month and are responsible for renewing it as needed.
